I'm wondering if Gen3 logs user access and generates reports that can be used for auditing - either already as a service or on the development radar?

Thank you for your question!
Locally deployed Gen3 produces logs, which can be parsed / stored as needed, but we do recommend keeping logs in a secure environment because they can sometimes contain user info and secrets. You will need to write your own scripts to analyze the logs.
For Gen3 Data Commons we do not share the logs externally.
